One of, if not the, finest burger joints there is. Quality is always excellent and the specials they come up with are out of this world. At the top of the A6 in Hazel Grove the aesthetic is nothing to write home about but the food certainly is! We believe they are still trying to find bigger and better premises in central Stockport after their residency in Dr Feelgoods came to an unfortunate abrupt end so hopefully even greater things await for them in the future. For those of us lucky enough to live close enough to them they also deliver and the box packaging they use means the burgers are still a decent temperature and not at all soggy when they arrive. Some argue they are pricey (£10-12 a burger) but you get what you pay for!
We went on a Saturday afternoon (about 4:30) and it was very quiet so the service was excellent. Didn’t wait long at all and everything was hot and fresh as you would expect, very friendly staff. A word of wanrning though from previous experience, this place is far from a secret to locals and at peak times they get VERY busy and you can wait a considerable time for a delivery and in the restaurant itself but they did always used to give you a warning when you arrived, which is good.
Carnivore review
We visited on this occasion as the weekly “Birds and bees” special caught my eye on their Insta page. I am a sucker for nduja, can’t get enough of it! I am also a massive fan of sweet chili honey so the thought of these together was enough to warrant a trip. Any locals familiar with the “Bee Sting” pizza that their sister place Pickle Ricks serve will know just how fabulous this stuff is! Pulled chicken is not something you com across that often but with the nduja it was moist and packed with flavour. Topped off with mozerella, crispy Serrano ham and garlic and herb mayo it truly was a taste sensation.
I also had a side of dusted fries and they too were pretty flawless. As good as their specials are they also have a very good range of regulars that I have tried over the years and can highly recommend the “Pig Mac” and the “Sloppy Joe”. And for the fussy amongst us there is always the “Plain Jane” where you can have up to 5 toppings of your choice and create your own. Not enough places do this anymore which always surprises me as its a very simple thing to have on offer and can only result in more people coming to your restaurant.

Would we revist?
Hell yes! In fact we have many times over the years. Consistently one of the best burgers in the whole of Greater Manchester (and beyond) that we have tried. Weekly specials are a thing of beauty and genuinely innovative! The buttermilk haloumi makes for one of the best veggie alternatives out there and the fact that you can build your own with up to 5 toppings means there is always a variety and can cater for pretty much everyone.
